More than 1500 fans gathered at the Czech Republic's Brno circuit on Sunday to pay tribute to Marco Simoncelli, killed in a crash during the 2011 Malaysian MotoGP on October 23.
The tribute started with a speech, a minute's silence and the Italian anthem, after which about 1000 bikers set out for a ride on the circuit where Simoncelli, 24, won his first podium place in the MotoGP category in August, 2011.
The 20098 250cc World champion was killed when he lost control of his Honda and fell at Sepang, Malaysia and was hit by the bikes of Colin Edwards and Valentino Rossi just minutes after the start of the race.
