GOOD DEAL?: MV Augusta bikes too expensive for you? Now there’s this rather naked 106kW solution…

Wheels24 first brought you news about MV Agusta’s “budget” Brutale back in December 2010. Now we finally know exactly what the new model will look like thanks to these striking images.

This new engine is a high-performance 1078cc four-cylinder unit, with a radial intake and exhaust valves set-up. It also happens to be the largest displacement engine ever built by MV Agusta.

For the bike’s frame the company opted for a mix of steel and aluminium mated to a Marzocchi 50mm USD front fork and a Sachs rear shock, both with valving specific to the 1090R. The bike also employs a grippy 190/55 – ZR17 rear tyre.

Maximum power from the 1090R model’s 1078cc engine is identical to that of its RR sibling: 106kW. The big difference comes in its price tag, however, which is over R20 000 lower in Europe. Not a bad price difference at all for the loss of one R.

As yet there is no word on availability or pricing for this model in SA.
