Speedster survives 252km/h crash

A motorcycle rider in the American state of Arizona has survived a 252km/h crash while attempting to escape authorities.

Noe Marcos Calazo, a 19-year old local, was riding his 2004 Yamaha YZF at more than three times the legal limit of 72km/h when he hit the concrete base of a traffic light at 02:05 am.

Upon impact Calazo was flung 30m through the air while his motorcycle was smashed to bits after hitting a wooden telephone pole.

It is believed that Calazo, who was admitted by air ambulance to the hospital in a critical but stable condition, was riding under the influence at the time of the accident.

Although the bike was virtually obliterated, no other people were hurt in the police chase.

When he is discharged from the hospital, Calazo will be facing the full wrath of the law. The charges that have been brought against him include aggravated driving inder the influence, reckless driving and criminal speed.
