Motocross prodigy arrested

He has been called the “Tiger Woods of Motocross”, is sponsored by Nike and Oakley and rose to fame as the first African-American to succeed at the highest level of any major motorsport association.

But now James “Bubba” Stewart has spectacularly fallen foul of the law after he was arrested this week for impersonating a police officer.

Travelling in his Toyota Tundra pick-up, Stewart used red and blue flashing police lights to pull over another car on a rural Florida road near his home. The catch? Two off-duty police officers were travelling in the car he pulled over.

After the officers identified themselves, Stewart and his passenger fled the scene but were later arrested at the Orlando International Airport.

Although it is unlikely that Stewart will be serving any jail time, the US does not look kindly on anybody impersonating a police officer. The use of police lights in a personal vehicle is classified as a first degree misdemeanour.

It certainly appears as if Stewart is living up to his “Tiger Woods” nickname in an uncanny fashion.
