British Superbike newcomer, Sylvain Guintoli, has given the thumbs up to a new helmet safety device.

Crescent Suzuki British Superbike rider Sylvain Guintoli is backing a new helmet safety device designed to eliminate potential spinal injuries caused by accidents on the road and the track.

The Helmet Emergency Access Device (H.E.A.D) has been designed to allow medics access to the rider’s airways, avoiding having to remove the helmet even when unconscious which could cause serious spinal injuries.

The rider who will also be at the launch event later this week said: “I was invited to see this project a few months back and was immediately impressed by the concept.

“It's a hugely delicate situation when a rider suffers an accident and with this process the chances of spinal injury or worse are dramatically reduced.

“I'm hoping those that see the H.E.A.D system in demonstration will be as impressed as I am."
