Giant Harley sculpture stolen

Police in Utah, USA were stumped recently when a giant four tonne bronze sculpture of a Harley-Davidson motorcycle worth R740 000 disappeared without a trace from the premise of a local Harley dealer.
The sculpture, which was dubbed “Land Speed”, was created by well-known bike sculptor Jeff Decker and was mounted on a chunky granite plinth which disappeared with the bike.
Police issued a plea to residents of the Utah town requesting information from anyone who saw a crane or forklift in the area but, according to ArtBiker World, the culprit was none other than the artist himself.
After Mr Decker learned that the dealership was facing financial difficulties, he decided to simply repossess the artwork – which had not been paid for despite its installation two years earlier – instead of allowing the banks to get their grubby hands on it.
