Electric GP gets complicated

First the FIM decided to ditch the TTXGP electric Grand Prix, now the Isle of Man is doing its best to deal with the masses of criticism it received after announcing it also will no longer be partnering with TTXGP for this year’s TT.
Both the FIM and Isle of Man have decided to create their own electric racing series, rather than continuing their partnership with TTXGP, and are calling their respective series the e-Power International Championship and TT Zero.
This week the Isle of Man issued a wordy press release which addresses the “speculation and unsubstantiated claims” surrounding the Isle of Man Government’s decision to run their own clean emissions event as part of the 2010 TT races in a desperate bid to counter the negativity which resulted from their decision.
In response to the release TTXGP founder Azhar Hussain said: “I can only say that we are sorry that we won't be there. I want to say deep heartfelt thank you to the many many people from the Isle of Man who have sent us messages of support and encouragement.
“Moving forward, we are totally committed to the success of all our stakeholders and are building partnerships to spark a thriving and self sustaining eco-system around zero carbon motorsports and transportation,” Hussain continues.
To date the TTXGP remains the only organiser of the three who already has a confirmed schedule for 2010 and the backing of numerous participants. For full details on all the upcoming races, which kicks off with the North American Championship in California on 14 May, visit TTXGP here.
