The Association of Motorcycle Importers and Distributors (Amid) will stage its 2012 show at the Johannesburg Expo Centre, Nasrec, in August.
Amid's motorcycle exhibition will take place from August 24-26, 2012, and will be held in conjunction with the bi-annual Johannesburg Boat Show.
Réhann Coetzee, national director of Amid, said: "The opportunity to stage our show at South Africa's premier exhibition venue will be a benefit for both our visitors and our member companies.”
GROWING DEMAND
The show was not hosted in 2011 or 2009 but Coetzee told Wheels24 that Amid would like to establish some routine to the show and also encourage “cross-pollination” between boat and motorcycle enthusiasts.
"The demand for motorcycles for leisure activities is growing, while scooters are attracting more and more commuter buyers," Coetzee explained. "The nature of this combined exhibition will have strong appeal for related interest groups such as holiday resorts, caravan and trailer manufacturers, and service providers to the motorcycle industry.
“The extensive outdoor areas at the expo centre lend themselves to experiential activities, such as motorcycle stunt-riding, as well as test rides on motorcycles and quads.
Amid has staged shows at a number of venues in Gauteng over the years but this will be the first at the Expo Centre not linked to the Johannesburg international auto show.
