Norway - A group of school children escaped what could have been a deadly road incident after running across the road without looking out for oncoming traffic.

Good awareness

A group of school kids can be seen being dropped off by a bus along a highway. The five students appear to head down the path when one boy decides to run across the road. An older girl tries to stop the boy who is unaware of the oncoming truck.

Fortunately the driver preempts the situation and can be seen slowing down as he spots the bus. His braking skills have to be commended as he brings the massive truck to a complete halt in no time at all. The boy has nowhere to go and can only run further ahead instead of crossing the road entirely. The truck driver manages to avoid what could have been a gruesome incident.

Arrive Alive editor Johan Jonck says this about the incident: "The onus is both on the passengers and on road users driving in the vicinity of pedestrian activity to remain alert and vigilant.

"Always consider threats and what could possibly go wrong, wherever there's a bus or truck or other vehicle stationary next to the road. We need to consider a pedestrian, especially small children, that could suddenly disembark such a vehicle."
