Cape Town - Sports cars have always held a special place among South African petrolheads but adverse economical conditions is slowing sales of these performance vehicles.
During November 2016, a total of 46 413 new vehicles found owners across all segments of the new car market. Overall, this equates to a 9.6% drop (or 4925) compared to November 2015.
Still a solid segment
When the sales were tallied and the numbers verified, it was the Ford Mustang which came out tops as the best-selling sports car in SA for November 2016. A total of 60 muscle cars found new owners.
The Porsche 911 came in second (33) followed by the Cayman/Boxster with 15 units.
Jaguar' sold 14 F-Types while Audi sold seven R8 models.
At the bottom end of the list Ferrari sold two model and BMW i8 and Nissan GT-R found once new owner each.
