Johannesburg - The motorsport department of Automobili Lamborghini, Lamborghini Squadra Corse, has unveiled the new Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo EVO.

An exclusive event was held in Sant'Agata Bolognese for the world debut of the race car in addition to a partnership announcement. The Lamborghini Squadra Corse has partnered with the well-known Swiss luxury watchmaker Roger Dubuis.

The Italian supercar maker found the watch designer to possess the same outlook on attention to detail and thirst for innovation.

Special livary

And in celebrating the ideal partnership, a special Titan Grey racing livery for Dubuis's work will appear on Lamborghini's new competition cars. The first of which appears on the Lamborghini Huracan Super Trofeo Evo.

The new model is based on and will also replace the current Huracán LP 620-2 Super Trofeo for the next season.

Its EVO designation stems from its heavily revised aerodynamic kit in addition to the improvement on safety. (The car is made for the Super Trofeo event which is a one-make Lamborghini Huracán race series. The series takes place across the three continents of Asia, Europe, and North America.)

The new body kit for the EVO was developed in partnership with Dallara Engineering. This company is also known for building the chassis of the Bugatti Chiron, the LMP2 chassis for Le Mans, and the DPi chassis for IMSA, KTM’s X-Bow, Alfa Romeo’s 4C, as well as the IndyCar chassis. The kit has a better carbon fiber body, more intakes, and includes an advanced fin on the top of the car for better stability at high speeds.

According to Lamborghini, its new roof hatch was made for easier access in emergencies and makes the car safer. Over its road car derivative, it also has an additional air scoop to direct air back to the engine minus the original double air intakes. The race car retains the road car’s 5.2-litre V10 engine which puts out a vaguely improved 456kW of power.

The new Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo EVO has a list price of 235 000 Euros (R3.7-million) for the European and Asian markets, and 295 000 USD (R3.9-million) in America. Current teams with the Huracán Super Trofeo will have the opportunity to purchase the new body kit in efforts of upgrading to the new specifications.
