Goodyear launched its new EfficientGrip SUV tyre internationally at an SUV/4x4 tyre event in the Algarve, Portugal earlier in 2012. Now its latest tyre range is available in South Africa.

Its SA range will have tyres from 16 to 19-inch.

Chris Tye, Goodyear SA'S product manager, said: “The tyre supports fuel economy, delivers advanced features to improve wet and dry handling and braking and ensures a smoother, quieter ride”.

'DECATHLETE OF TYRE WORLD'

The EfficientGrip SUV is the latest addition to the tyremaker's EfficientGrip range and follows the likes of the Wrangler HP All-Weather range. It’s been dubbed the "decathlete of the tyre world" since, unlike high-performance road tyres or rugged off-roaders, the EfficientGrip SUV is dual purpose.

The tyre incorporates the tyre-maker's FuelSaving technology, better rolling resistance and a comfortable yet quiet ride on tar and gravel.

An advanced tread compound is tightly woven into the tyre’s structure, which uses traction resins to further enhance wet braking. Noise is minimised by the block design and sequence. The tyre is also light, which improves steering and handling.

Tye said: “The 4x4/SUV market continues to grow in popularity, and so the demand for specialised tyres has increased too. While car manufacturers work hard to ensure their vehicles are increasingly economical and environmentally safer, so Goodyear continuously improves its tyres to support the technological advances.

"With its ability to help reduce the impact on the environment without compromising on performance, EfficientGrip SUV is the perfect choice for every 4x4/SUV driver.”
